Rolling Stone cited emails in which Bergdahl told his parents he was “ashamed to even be American” and had lost faith in the mission. He also hinted at desertion, according to the report, and mailed home boxes of personal belongings such as uniforms and books. Bergdahl’s emails suggest that the soldier willingly walked away from his unit soon after arriving in Afghanistan.
Matt Vierkant, A member of Bergdahl's platoon said, "I was pissed off then and I am even more so now with everything going on. Americans lost their lives searching for him."

In his 2014 State of the Union address, Obama promised to close "Club Gitmo" by the end of the year. Obama now has seven months to shut down Guantanamo—or come as close to it as he can.
"Trading five senior Taliban leaders from detention in Guantanamo Bay for Bergdahl's release may have consequences for the rest of our forces and all Americans" by giving terrorists "a strong incentive to capture Americans."
President Obama has proven his Messiah powers, can anyone stop him now? Taliban leaders for American hostage is a prelude to a bigger move—the emptying out of Guantanamo entirely.
